Headlines the 2008 Girl Power SuccessWorkshop
Dr. Karyn Gordon will serve as the keynote speaker at the Girl Power Success (GPS) workshop on Tuesday,October 28, 2008 at the Stratford Rotary Complex at 353McCarthy Road in Stratford.
“The theme for the workshop this year is DreamBig, BeyondMe,Think Community and Act Globally” explained GPS
founder Cathy Anstett. “A youth magnet, Dr. Karyn captivates students. Her interactive presentations have
challenged thousands of youth to reach their full potential. We are very fortunate to have her as our Keynote
speaker and I am confident she will help to inspire the 350 girls attending the workshop to build self-esteemand
healthy friendships.”
Dr. Karyn has been the expert on the national TV show,“TheMomShow” and has also shared her advice on her own radio talk-show,“Bridging the Gap”, (Newstalk 1010 CFRB) and in Canadian LivingMagazine. For three years she hosted and executive produced her own internationalmusic talk-show“Spill Your Guts”, (Global Canwest), interviewing top rock stars and celebrities (Sum41,Vince Carter,Matchbox 20) about their personal obstacles. She is also a regular contributor to several TV shows (Entertainment Tonight Canada, Breakfast Television). She has authored a number of books, including Dr. Karyn’s Guide to the Teen Years and Raising Healthy Teens in an Age of Over-Indulgence for parents of youth.
This year the GPS format has changed slightly to allow greater interaction between the girls andmentors. We also added a number of “Spotlight Speakers”who will share their personal experience successfully overcoming obstacles ranging fromdrug addiction to persevering through recovery fromamajor accident, plus others such as student Abbey Sparks helping others in Africa and Rebecca Hardy,winner of Canada’s Next TopModel Cycle 2. Alex Tintinalli, 16 year old guitarist, singer-songwriter has received both local, national and international recognition and will close the day with Shine On Me.

Erica Ehm, the first female Much Music host and well-known media personality returns to serve as the keynote speaker at the Girl Power Success (GPS) workshop on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 and she will be joined by Canadian Idol finalist Kati Durst from Goderich, Ontario. "The theme for the workshop this year is Dream Big, Beyond Me,Think Community and Act Globally,, explained GPS founder Cathy Anstett. "Erica Ehm had big dreams and she has achieved so much through her multi-faceted media career. I know her story will help to inspire the more than 350 girls that we're expecting for the workshop."
